Days 1-7
The "infection" breaks out in China. Aaron is at home in Orem, UT and wife and two kids (Dawn, Connor and Seeley) are stuck in Oregon. The outbreak arrives at the US and there are mass riots along the west coast and in Aaron's home town. He leaves with his brother Josh to find his wife and sons. They arrive at Reno, NV and fill up their van, (filled with supplies, a shotgun and bat), with gas. Inside the store they come across their first zombie attack. Aaron is almost bit but Josh is able to beat him off with a bat. Aaron finishes the zombie off with a shotgun blast to the head. In need of weapons the two break into a rifle range/store, and grab weapons and ammo. On the way out of the store and Reno they are attacked by hordes of Zombies (who were attracted to the noise), and escape in the van. They come across a old couple in the Sierra Mountains who have killed themselves. While Aaron is asleep Josh crashes the van and is knocked unconscious. It is then left up to Aaron to escape the zombies that he can hear from far off. There are abandoned cars on the road and Aaron grabs what supplies he can, carrying Josh, and runs from the accident. He is, after some time, attacked by a zombie. Being nearly bit and breaking his hand he is finally able to kill the zombie, shooting it in the head. Trying to escape into the surrounding woods with a broken hand and possible concussion Aaron finally collapses to the ground.
Days 8-14
Aaron wakes up in the woods with Josh, who seems to be OK. They make their way back to the van to find looters, a gang going through their supplies. The gang chases them, and while they follow Aaron, Josh is able to double back to the van to get their supplies. Aaron, through the chase, accidentally kills one of the gang members which causes him to feel eminence guilt. Josh and Aaron meet back in the forest and Josh has gotten all of their supplies. After tying them to a bike they walk through the sea of abandoned cars. As they arrive near Rocklin, CA, on their way to Oregon, they are attacked by a large group of zombies just after watching them attack, and kill several of, the gang members they'd come across the day before. They survive, and walk through the night to get to their brother's house. Chad, their brother, along with his wife Crystal, and son Clive are not there, but the find a note pointing them to a nearby Costco. There, they find them and rescue them from several zombies surrounding the area. They are able to gather some supplies including food, clothing and some weapons. Aaron and Josh gain machete's and Chad a katana. They are now staying in a nearby building, recovering from their travels with Chad, his family and few others that were with them in Costco.
Days 15-21
Aaron and Josh are able to get Chad, his family and those others staying with them free from Costco. They get supplies from Costco, having killed the zombies around the building. Aaron, Chad, and one of the ones who was with Chad at Costco, Ray, go and get Aaron's bike at Chad's old house and then head to a gun store where they are attacked by zombies. Ray is killed and Chad and Aaron barely get away. Upon arriving back at their living area they find that everyone has died accept Josh and another in the Costco group, Jacob. Aaron then makes the hard decision to kill Chad's wife who has turned into a zombie. Chad's child however does not turn. The next day Josh is bit by a zombie and the four fight through zombies and barricade themselves in town home to take care of Josh. However, Josh never gets sick. Jacob does, though, because of exposer to the zombie blood while fighting them to save Josh. Aaron (a Biotech major) speculates that he, Chad and Josh, (all brothers) have a gene that counteracts whatever turns people into zombies. This gene makes them immune. Jacob turns and is killed by Chad. After raiding a National Guard building and obtaining a Hummer they driver through Sacramento, finding a refugee who is covered head to toe and wears a gas mask, believing the zombie infection is airborne. The refugee's name is Charlotte. Finally, they arrive at Oregon. Aaron's family is not there but he receives two bites from a zombie that attacks him on the leg. He as well does not turn only verifying his belief that there is a genetic immunity within his family.
Days 22-28
Because of Aaron's injury they are forced to stay there a couple days. There is a note left in the house from Aaron's wife, Dawn, explaining that they had gone to the Redwoods to camp and escape the zombies. After the house is attacked by zombies and also because of Aaron's desire to find his family, they leave. They are able to drive down with no problems and, after some searching, they are able to find the camp and Aaron is reunited with his wife and two boys. their grandparents are also there. They are welcomed at the camp filled with several groups of people. However, after two days the camp as well as over run and Aaron briefly speculated that the zombies migrate. He is able to get his family out with Chad, Josh and Charlotte, but during the chaos of the zombie attack they were unable to find his grandparents.During the conflict Josh and Chad both receive injuries and so, after a drive they stop at a hospital and bunker down while Chad and Josh recoup and gather supplies.
Days 29-36
They stay in the hospital for another day, recouping, but after finding that there are zombies in the hospital, in different wings or locked up they leave. The large group of zombies that had attacked their camp seem to have migrated down to Fort Bragg, where the hospital was, and after fighting through them the decided to drive up to Northern Utah, going through Oregon and into Idaho. Upon arriving at Boise the find the city still intact and are arrested by the military. Aaron wakes up alone in a room. He finds out through a doctor, Dr. Grant, that he is immune to the zombie infection and that along with his brothers, his oldest son Connor is also immune. They then proceed to do experiments on them for unknown reasons. Aaron is also told that Dawn, Charlotte and Asher have been released. After being allowed to see his son, and realizing they are doing the same experiments on him he fights the guard and doctor, incapacitating the guard and smashing a vial of infected blood on the doctors arm. He then rescues his son and Josh and Chad. However, while trying to escape Chad is shot and killed.
Days 37-42
Aaron and Josh wait by the research building to see if Dawn, Charlotte and Seeley show up. They don't Josh then speculates that they are still in the building and that Dr. Grant lied to them. Aaron goes to investigate. He finds them locked in a room and starving to death. He gets them out and they run from zombies that had been in the building because of the vial Aaron broke on the doctors arm. They escape and recover, however the city is under quarantine and they are not allowed to leave as the zombies from the research building are loosed on the city and attacking. They all take shelter in a nearby hotel, blocking off an entire floor. On the 4th day after the city was barricaded the city is silent and empty. Aaron and Josh go out to see if it is safe at watch as zombies hunt other humans and kill them. They are forced to run and are able to escape the city with the others.
Days 43-49
They make it back to Utah, and Orem, where Aaron and Dawn live. While there they recoup and rest, preparing to go down to St. George where Aaron's parents told them they were heading before he and Josh left for Oregon. They run into a small group of people, Lauren, Dean and Ann. They allow them to stay and while getting ready to leave, getting supplies ready, etc. Lauren gets sick. It is soon apparent to Aaron and everyone that Lauren is sick with the zombie infection.
